Turian Ladies sketcheroo time

Augh, I am such crap at drawing Turians. Need to practice more.

So, I have to say that I was less than impressed by Bioware's decision to make females lack the large crests of the male, BUT I understand the logic behind it, and I have made my own modifications to their design until I've gotten to a point where I'm pretty satisfied with the result.

I decided that while female lack the long, over-arching "horns" of the male, and only seem to have the first "set" of plates on the face, the first set of plates is more elaborate and fringe-like than on the males.

The little sketch there shows how my logic more or less boiled down to "Just like genitals! Males have long, prominant ones, females have fancier, smaller parts!" Herpa derp.

I also tried to soften the jawline a bit and I dunno. WHO KNOWS.

MAYBE THIS WORKS MAYBE IT DOESN'T.

The ladies featured here are my OC's, Hiven and Liritu. Hiven's the smaller of the two, features in the SKULLFACE picture at the top and Liritu's the other one. They're sisters, Liritu being the older, who are endlessly competitive and largely just hate each other.

It's a good, motivational sort of hate, though. Kept barely in check by the whole Turian honor system.

EDIT: Just read an interesting theory that Turian crests and the shape therof are grooming-related, rather than natural. Like how men and women among humans both have hair, but only women tend to let their grow out long. Perhaps it's the reverse the Turians, and all Turians are capable of growing long, impressive horns, but only males do?

Not sure what I think of this theory, but it interests me at the least.
